Evidence before scale.
YardPermit publishes a small page set on purpose. A page is published only once it has distinct intent, dated sources and an editorial review; until then it has no page at all.
Source hierarchy
For local rules, primary sources come first: municipal planning and building departments, adopted-code portals and official bulletins. Federal statistical agencies may provide market context, but they do not validate a local contractor price. Secondary publishers can help discover a question; they do not replace the authority that writes the rule.
Patterns vs. determinations
National project pages explain recurring decision patterns. City pages may make local statements only when the exact official source, its scope and a checked date are visible. A permit exemption never becomes a claim that zoning, easements, flood rules or private covenants do not apply.
Calculation review
Dimensional formulas live in one tested module. Boundary cases—especially partial post or joist bays—must round toward a safe quantity rather than silently exceed the selected spacing. Inputs and assumptions stay visible and editable. See the detailed methodology.
Cost language
A price appears only when a primary source publishes it, shown with its year and scope. Where none does, the page gives the quantity and lets the reader enter a local price. A wage is labeled as a wage, never as a contractor rate. We do not convert a national figure into a fabricated ZIP-code quote or claim that a source supports a number it does not publish.
AI assistance and accountability
Generative AI may assist with drafting, code, information architecture and quality checks. It is not listed as an expert author. DueRiva, which makes and publishes YardPermit, remains responsible for checking formulas, links, wording and release readiness, and source-backed pages carry its byline: “Written by DueRiva.”
Corrections and update policy
Corrections should update the page, source record, review date and affected tests together. Expired links or changed rules remove a page from the indexable set until reverified. Send corrections through the contact page, with the page address and the source that shows the current rule. Every correction is logged, dated, on the changes page.
